Michael has worked in the mental health field since 1995 where he served children and families at Brewer Porch Children’s Center in Tuscaloosa, Al. Michael earned his Master of Counseling in 2000 from Covenant Theological Seminary, and his Master of Divinity in 2002. He and his wife had the privilege of helping start a church based counseling center in St. Louis, MO called New Hope Counseling Services in 2000, where he served as director from 2005-2015, as well as director of a counseling center in Hendersonville, NC from 2015-2020. As an ordained pastor and professional counselor, Michael has worked with a wide range of issues and types of therapy including marital challenges, family of origin issues, anxiety, depression, conflict resolution, emotional, sexual and physical abuse, individuals who have experienced narcissistic abuse, the challenges that come from vocational ministry, as well as those struggling with sexual addiction. In addition to counseling he has helped provide consultation for the creation of counseling centers, church-based counseling ministries, church conflicts, and recovery for churches dealing with narcissistic abuse. Michael sees it as a privilege to walk alongside people journeying toward hope and healing. He and his wife Sherry, have four children.

Sherry Coggin, MA, LPC
Co-Founder
Sherry has been counseling since 1998. She started counseling young women at pregnancy centers and liked it so much that she felt led to pursue a counseling degree at Covenant Theological Seminary, where she graduated in May 2000. Sherry was privileged to be part of a team that helped start a counseling center in St. Louis, MO called New Hope Counseling Services. During that time she counseled at New Hope from May 2000-August 2015. She and her family moved to Hendersonville, NC in August 2015 where she started a counseling practice, Sparrow Counseling as well as serving on staff at Karis Counseling Services. She specializes in helping people find healing in their hurt and brokenness. Sherry's primary areas of expertise: those who are struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, identity issues, eating disorders, sexual, physical, and emotional abuse, divorce, marriage and parenting struggles and eating disorders. Sherry is EMDR trained. Her and her husband Michael have three boys and a little girl.
